Toys Cats Will Love
When I walk past a pet store I am unable to go past it without first stopping to check out the cute pets. My eyes soon turn to what’s new in the pet accessories and of course I love to check out the toys. I find a special joy in being able to bring some new toy home to my pets and watch them playing with it. I am always searching for inspiration to provide new ways to interact with my animals. My pets are my children and I want them safe, happy, healthy and enjoying life so I am always looking to provide a safe object that stimulates them mentally and physically in a fun, interesting way.
Cats can get bored quickly, but the good news is you don’t have to spend a lot of money to provide new toys, sometimes the simplist things can provide hours of pleasure for your cat.
This I have seen when my own cats play with a tissue or the cardboard inner tube of a finished toilet roll.
A pen, ribbon, string with a mouse tiered to the end of the string or even a scrunched up piece of paper can captivate your cat and provide hours of enjoyment. These sorts of things are very low costing toys that really do provide hours of play for cats.
Lets look at some important and fun things we can provide our cats by spending some money.
Cat towers are a great investment, there are many different styles available these days, but the more levels on the tower, the more fun your cat will have.
Multilevel steps with a pole for scratching not only provides exercise and fun but also a place to scratch in an appropriate place instead of your curtains and furniture.
If the tower has a box for a base, holes cut into the sides, making tunnel provides a terrific place to play, cats can run in and out, crawl up tunnels to the next level, or have a safe place just to nap.
Stuffed mice with small amounts of catnip, stuffed animals, balls and even a $7 balance balls where metal balls hang on a wire, you pull one ball back and it sets the other balls off and clicking, I think this device is meant for stress relief. It works, every time I see my cat playing with it I break out laughing.
Below is my cat tent and I just put something soft inside to enhance their comfort.
Kittens at an early age learn to pick things up in their mouths, its an instinct as is using their claws is also.
When playing cats like to grab, bite, roll around pulling and pushing with their back legs.
They like to toss in the air and pounce on a toy when it lands on the ground again.
Having two cats provides the opportunity for the cats to play chassie and give you much enjoyment as you watch them take turns to chase or run away. Cat towers can be a place for friendly sparing and trying to push each other off, this can be so much fun to watch.
Toy mice are a great source of enjoyment for cats, some cats like their toy mouse multicolored fur and long tails. Some like small leather mice, there are lots of styles of mice and you will soon see if your cat is interested in the mouse you have given. If the cat is uninterested in the mouse trying choosing a different style of mouse. Mouse play is important to any kitty’s playtime.
